Prayers rawatib namely sunnah prayers that are performed before or after the obligatory prayers.

If done before the obligatory prayers, then it is called sunnah prayer qobliyah and when it is done after the obligatory prayer, it is called the sunnah ba'diyah prayer.

Rawatib prayers are divided into 2

• 1 .prayer rawatib muakkad (recommended) and
• 2 .sholat rawatib ghoiru muakkad (less recommended).

Number of Raka'at of Sunnah Prayer Rawatib Muakkadah

The number of these sunnah prayers 10 roka'at or 12 raka’at,
among them, namely 4 or 2 raka'at before dzuhur and 2 roka'at after dhuzur, 2roka'at after maghrib prayer, 2 raka'at after the evening prayer and 2 roka'at again before the dawn prayer.

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ – رضى الله عنهما – قَالَ: حَفِظْتُ مِنَ النَّبِىِّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم –
عَشْرَ رَكَعَاتٍ, رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَهَا ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ فِى بَيْتِهِ
، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ فِى بَيْتِهِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ

That means :
From Ibn Umar radhiyallahu ‘anhuma, he said: “I have memorized from Rasulullah SAW 10 raka’at; 2 raka'at before Zhuhur, 2 raka'at afterwards, 2 raka'at after Maghrib at his house, 2 raka'at after Isha’ at his house and 2 rak'ah before the dawn prayer ".

As for the proposition that states 12 raka'at narrated by Tirmidhi and authenticated by Al Albani in Shahihut Tirmidhi.

عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « مَنْ صَلَّى فِى يَوْمٍ
وَلَيْلَةٍ ثِنْتَىْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً بُنِىَ لَهُ بَيْتٌ فِى الْجَنَّةِ أَرْبَعًا قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَهَا
وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الْفَجْرِ »

That means :
From Umm Habibah radhiyallahu ‘anha said: “Rasulullah SAW said:
“Whoever prays in a day and a night 12 raka'at then built for him a house in heaven, (12 the rak'at) is 4 raka'at before Zhuhur, 2 raka'at afterwards, 2 raka'at after Maghrib, 2 raka'at after Isha’ and 2 raka'at before dawn ".

From the arguments mentioned above, the only difference is the amount of rakats

The intention of the Sunnah Prayer of Qobliyah and Ba’diyah (Sholat Rawatib)

I intend to perform the circumcision prayer before dawn 2 rakaat, while facing the qibla because of Allah ta'ala

Prayers of Sunnah Rowatib Prayer

Umm Habibah radhiyallahu'anha has narrated about the virtues of rawatib dzuhur. He said, I heard the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam say:

"Whoever is in charge (Salat) four rak'ahs before noon and four rak'ahs after it, God forbade him the fire of hell ". (HR. Ahmad 6/325, Abu Dawud no. 1269, At-Tarmidzi no. 428, An-Nasa’i no. 1814, Ibn Majah no. 1160)

At-Tarmidzi and An-Nasa'i narrated a hadith that says that, from ‘Aisyah radiyallahu’anha, he said: Rasulullah shallallahu’alaihi wa sallam bersabda, "Whoever does not leave twelve (12) rak'ahs in rawatib sunnah prayers, then Allah will build him a house in heaven…” (HR. At-Tarmidzi no. 414, An-Nasa’i no. 1794)
