How to Pray Witr
In establishing witr sunnah prayers, can be done 2 rokaat-2rokaat then ends with 1 rokaat, with one tasyahud and 1x salam each. Can also be the whole rak'ah at once with 1x salutation.
For 3 rakat or more with this one greeting, can with two tasyahud once greetings, can also be only with one tasyahud in the last rokaat only
as the hadith of Umm Salamah RA:
Rasulullah SAW berwitir 7 or 5 rak'ahs continuously and not separated by greetings
(HR. An Nasa’i, Ibn Majah and Ahmad)
Also the hadith narrated by Aisha RA
Rasulullah SAW performed the night prayer 13 rakaat, This includes the sunnah witr prayer 5 rokaat. He did not sit tasyahud except on the last rokaat. (HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
Witr prayer prayer
After the sunnah witr prayer, it is sunnah to read 3 times
Subhaanal malikil quddus
That means:
Glory be to Thee, the Sovereign Lord and the Glorious from various shortcomings
Dhikr as narrated in the hadith shohih Abu Daud and An Nasa'i.
Then read the witr prayer:
Allohumma inni a'udzu bi ridhooka min sakhotik wa bi mu'aafatika min ‘iqubatik, wa a'udzu bika minka laa uh-shi tsanaa-an' alaik, anta kamaa atsnaita ‘ala nafsik
That means:
Ya Alloh, I seek refuge in Your lust from Your wrath, and with Thy safety from Thy punishment and I seek refuge in Thee from Thy torment. I can't count the praise and flattery to You, You are as You praise Yourself.
The witr sunnah prayer above is based on the authentic hadith narrated by Abu Dawud, Tirmidzi, An Nasa'i son of Ibn Majah.
Benefits of Witr Prayer
Witr sunnah prayer is also called as an additional prayer and some hadiths below explain the virtues of witr prayer
1 . In addition to prayer
Witr sunnah prayers for additional prayers. This hadith explains that the sunnah witr prayer is a prayer that is recommended to be done between the time of the fardu prayer, namely Isha and the time before dawn.. By establishing the witr prayer we can add to the prayer and of course get a reward from the prayer.
As the following hadith
‘Indeed, Allah SWT gives you additional prayers, namely the sunnah prayer of Witir, So pray Witrlah between the times of 'Isha' prayer’ until the Shubuh prayer.’
[HR. Ahmad]
“Indeed, Allah SWT gives you additional prayers, then take care of him, (Witr prayers).
2. As a complement to the night prayer
The sunnah witr prayer is the closing of the night prayer which is performed either before or after waking up. As mentioned in the following hadith
“Make the end of your prayers at night with the Witr prayer”
3. Witr sunnah prayers are loved by Allah
Allah SWT really likes odd things. Like the odd rakat witr prayer tir, and witr is one of the worships that God loves. As mentioned in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW below:
نَّ اللهَ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ، فَأَوْتِرُوْا يَاأَهْلَ الْقُرْآنِ
"Indeed, Allah is odd and likes people who perform Witr sunnah prayers, then pray Witrlah, wahai para ahli al-Qur-an.”
Thus the discussion about the sunnah witr prayer, Hopefully useful
