Intention of Tahajud Prayer – The midnight prayer is the sunnat prayer that is done at night or a third of the night after waking up from sleep. The tahajjud prayer includes the sunnat mu’akad prayer (prayers strengthened by syara '). The midnight prayer is performed at least two rak'ahs and is unlimited at most

Intention of Tahajud Prayer

That means:

“I intend to pray sunnah tahajud for two rak'ahs (facing the Qibla) because of Allah the Almighty.”

Conditions of Tahajud Prayer

1. Done at night
The first requirement is that it must be done at night, because in accordance with the more important time to do this midnight prayer is in the last third of the night. but if you want to do it early in the evening it is also okay.

2. Waking up from sleep
The second requirement for the midnight prayer is that you must be awake or wake up from sleep. This is a condition that absolutely must be met, because if we have not slept and performed prayers, then the prayer is not tahajud prayer, but night prayers.

3. Fulfilling the Pillars of Tahajud Prayer
The next condition of tahajud prayer is to fulfill the pillars of tahajud prayer. Regarding this last condition, it is actually also included in one of the requirements for validity of prayer because the pillars of the midnight prayer are the same as rukun sholat the other.

اَللهُمَّ لَكَ اَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ اَمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَاِلَيْكَ اَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَاِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْلِيْ مَاقَدَّمْتُ وَمَا اَخَّرْتُ وَمَا اَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا اَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا اَنْتَ اَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّيْ. اَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَاَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لاَاِلَهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ. وَلاَ

حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ اِلاَّ بِاللهِ

Allaahumma Laka Aslamtu, Wa Bika Aamantu, Wa 'Alaika Tawakkaltu, Wa Ilaika Anabtu, Wa Bika Khaashamtu, Wa Ilaika Haakamtu, Faghfirlii Maa Qaddamtu, Wa Maa Akh-Khartu, Wa Maa Asrartu, Wa Maa A’lantu, Wa Maa Anta A’lamu Bihiminnii. Antal Muqaddimu, Wa Antal Mu’akhkhiru, Laa Ilaaha Illaa Anta, Wa Laa Haula Wa Laa Quwwata Illaa Billaah.

Ya Allah! It is only to you that I surrender, only in you, i have faith, Only to you, I trust only to you, I return, Only dehgan. I face my enemy, and it is only to you that I punish. Therefore forgive all my sins, that I have done and that (maybe) I will do it, which I keep secret and what I do openly, and other sins that You know better than I do. You are the First and You are the Last. There is no God but You, and No power and strength except with the help of God.”
