Intention of Rajab Fasting and the Benefits and Lessons of Rajab Fasting
Rajab Fasting Intention – Intending to fast at night can follow the recitation of the intention and put up the Sunnah intention of fasting Rajab right then and there. The obligation of intention at night only applies to obligatory fasting. For sunnah fasting, intention can be done during the day as long as the person concerned has not eaten, drink, and other things that can break the fast since dawn.
Rajab Fasting Intention
Here is the pronunciation of the intention of fasting the sunnah of Rajab during the day:
نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ هَذَا اليَوْمِ عَنْ أَدَاءِ سُنَّةِ رَجَبَ لِلهِ تَعَالَى
Nawaitu shouma hâdzal yaumi ‘an adai sunnati Rojaba lillahi ta‘ala.
That means :
“I intend to fast Rajab's sunnah today because of Allah SWT.”
We as Muslims are encouraged to fast in the month of Rajab considering the importance of sunnah fasting in the month of Rajab.. But we are also encouraged to recite the intention of fasting Rajab at night. Here is the pronunciation of Rajab's fasting intention:
نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ غَدٍ عَنْ أَدَاءِ سُنَّةِ رَجَبَ لِلهِ تَعَالَى
Nawaitu Shouma Ghodin'an ada’i sunnati Rojaba Lillahi Taala.
That means :
"I intend to fast the sunnah of Rajab tomorrow because of Allah SWT.”
Dalil Al-Qur’an
The month of Rajab is one of the holy months full of blessings, as Allah says in the letter At-taubah verse 36:
إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا۟ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ وَقَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
That means :
“Indeed, the number of months in the sight of Allah is twelve months, in the decree of Allah when He created the earth and the heavens, between the forbidden months (holy month). That is the right religion, so do not wrong yourselves in the fourth month” (QS. At-taubah; verse 36).
According to Syech Nawawi Banten
Fasting in the month of Rajab is recommended. The reason, we are encouraged to fast sunnah in the great months according to the religion as the evidence of Sheikh Nawawi Banten following:
والعاشر صوم أيام الأشهر الحرم وهي أربعة المحرم ورجب وذو القعدة وذو الحجة. وأفضل الشهور رمضان ثم المحرم ثم رجب ثم ذو الحجة ثم وذو القعدة ثم شعبان. وظاهر كلامهم أن باقي شهور السنة على حد سواء
That means, "The tenth fast in the honorable months, that is four months: Muharram, Rajab, Dzulqa‘dah, and Dzulhijjah. The most important month is Ramadan, then Muharram, then Rajab, next Dzulhijjah, then Dzulqa‘dah, then Sha'ban. Their words are seen in zohir, saying that in months other than those mentioned the extinction is the same, ”
Benefits and Wisdom of Rajab Fasting
It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad SAW has said, "Know that the month of rajab is the month of Allah".
Getting Ridho Allah swt
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means : “Whoever performs fasting in the month of Rajab with sincere intentions, then will get the pleasure of Allah swt is very great”
Earn Rewards (Worship for 5 year)
Prophet Muhammad said:, which means "Whoever fasts in the month of rajab/27 rajab, then get a reward like performing worship for 5 years of fasting”
Getting the Glory of Allah SWT
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means : "Whoever fasts in the month of Rajab, then will get great glory from Allah swt”
Earn Rewards 900 Year of Fasting
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means : "Whoever fasts in the month of Rajab. By date 1, 2, 3 then get rewarded like worship for 900 year”
Getting Istajab Prayer
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means :, "Whoever fasts the first five days of the month of Rajab, then his prayer will be granted".
The Gates of Hell are closed
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means : "Whoever fasts the first seven days of the month of Rajab, then the seven gates of hell are closed and the eight gates of surge are opened if he fasts for the first day of the month of Rajab".
Obtaining Forgiveness of Sins That Have Been Committed
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means :"Whoever fasts the first fifteen times in the month of Rajab, then all the sins that have been committed will be forgiven and the sinful deeds will be replaced with good deeds/goodness..
Earn Multiple Rewards
Prophet Muhammad SAW said what it means : “Whoever adds more fasting days in the month of Rajab, then his reward will be doubled by Allah swt”
