Intention of Qodho Fasting or Alternate Fasting and its Procedure
Intention to Replace Fasting – Before breaking a fast or replacing a fast, a person should say the intention in his heart. The intention to perform qadha or replace fasting will be written below in Arabic and Latin letters and translated in Indonesian, Check out the discussion below
Understanding Replace Fasting or Qadha
Fasting qadha or fasting substitute is fasting that is done in exchange for fasting left in the month of Ramadan. Fasting in Ramadhan IS a legal obligation, but a person is allowed to leave the fast due to obstacles, but he is still obliged to make up or replace his fast after the month of Ramadhan..
This is in accordance with the words of Allah SWT in Surah Al Baqarah verse 184 which reads :
That means :
(that is) in a certain number of days. So whoever of you is sick or on a journey (then he broke his fast), then (it is obligatory for him to fast) as much as the day left on the other days. And it is obligatory for those who find it hard to do it (if they do not fast) pay ransom, (that is): feed the poor. Whoever willingly does good deeds, then that's better for him. And fasting is better for you if you know. (QS. Al-Baqarah: 184)
Qodho Fasting Intention
Before fasting, one should say the intention in the heart. The intention of mengqadha or replacing fasting is as follows
نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ غَدٍ عَنْ قَضَاءٍ فَرْضَ رَمَضَانً ِللهِ تَعَالَى
That means :
I intend to fast tomorrow because it replaces the fardhu of Ramadan because of Allah Ta'ala.
Qadha fasting is as if we have a debt that must be paid to Allah SWT and must be promptly paid if there is no excuse or obstacle . Even a person's fast, including qadha fasting, is not valid if he does not intend or express the intention in his heart. To avoid things that can break the fast and make up for it the next day
Qodho Fasting Conditions
As for the person who is allowed to leave the obligatory fast and make up for it on another day, they are:
Sick person and the illness makes him weak and unable to perform the fast, he can leave the fast on the day he is ill and make up for it or replace it at a later date. However, a person who is mildly ill and is still able to fast must still perform the fast until if he leaves it then he sins.
traveler or people who are on a long journey and the journey is far enough or the same with menggashar or jama’ shalat wajib.
Menstruating or postpartum women can leave fasting and replace fasting on another day after Ramadan because menstrual blood invalidates a person's fast.
Pregnant and lactating women. As for women who are pregnant and breastfeeding, they are allowed not to fast or can leave the Ramadan fast if they are not willing or weak, and if they fast, it is feared that it may interfere with the health and development of the baby.. Some scholars have the opinion that pregnant women are the same as parents who are unable to fast so that it is permissible not to make up their fast but to pay fidyah or feed the poor.
When someone dies and has left Ramadan fasting due to continuous illness, hamil, gives birth to an accident and is also a traveler, then if he has not had time to make up or make up for the fast, his heirs are responsible for making up for his fast.
Provisions of Intention to Replace Fasting
In carrying out Ramadan fasting, of course it is not valid not to meet the conditions of fasting or fasting rules. The provisions of fasting qadha and the intention to replace fasting qadha are explained in the explanation below
If someone leaves fasting in the month of Ramadhan due to a certain reason, then it is sunnah to make up his fast immediately . However, if someone leaves the fast without a clear reason, then it is obligatory to replace the fast as soon as possible based on the opinion of scholars of the Shafi'i school and Imam Nawawi..
If a person breaks his fast for a syar'i reason or according to an obstacle that allows him to leave the fast according to Islamic teachings. So if he cannot replace his fast before the next Ramadan because the obstacle has not disappeared, then he is not obliged to pay fidyah and he can make up after the next Ramadan has passed..
It is Sunnah to break consecutive Ramadhan fasts and it is highly recommended.
Qadha’ fasting or replacing fasting cannot be done on the day- certain days for example in the month of Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr , Eid al-Adha and Tasyrik days.
That is the explanation about fasting instead, Hopefully it is useful and we are all helped by Him to carry out His orders
