Dzulhijjah fast –  Being one of the sunnah fasts that is recommended to be performed during 10 the day before Eid al-Adha. Here are the intentions and priorities of fasting sunnah dzulhijjah, arofah and tarwiyah, see the discussion below

Based on the authentic hadith of Siti Hafshah r.a.. he said,

"There are four types that have never been abandoned by the Prophet SAW, namely Ashura Fasting (10 Muharram), fasting 10 day (in the month of Dzulhijjah), fasting 3 days in each month, and the prayer of two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer.”

Fasting Dzulhijjah starts on 1 Dzulhijjah sapai 7 Dzulhijjah.

The intention of Fasting Dzulhijjah

Intention of Fasting Arafah Date 1 – 7 Dzulhijjah

نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ شَهْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ سُنَّةً ِللهِ تَعَالَى

“NAWAITU SHOUMA SYAHRI DZHILHIJATI SUNNATAN LILLAHI TA’AALA”

That means:
"I intend to fast sunnah in the month of Dzulhijjah for Allah ta'ala"”

The above intention is the intention of fasting Dzulhijjah which is done on 1 till date 7 Dzulhijjah.

Tarwiyah Fasting Intention

Intention of Fasting Tarwiyah Date 8 Dzulhijjah

نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةَ سُنَّةً ِللهِ تَعَالَى

"NAWAITU SHOUMA TARWIYATA SUNNATAN LILLAHI TA'ALA”

That means:
"I intend to fast sunnah tarwiyah for Allah ta'ala"”

Intention of Fasting Arafah

Intention of Fasting Arafah Date 9 Dzulhijjah

نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ سُنَّةً ِللهِ تَعَالَى

“NAWAITU SHOUMA‘ AROFATA SUNNATAN LILLAHI TA’ALA”

That means:
"I intend to fast the sunnah of Arafah for Allah ta'ala"”

The Benefits and Wisdom of Fasting Dzulhijjah

Date 1 Dzulhijjah

Allah SWT forgave Prophet Adam AS in Arafah, then whoever fasts on that day will be forgiven of his sins.

Date 2 Dzulhijjah

Allah SWT granted the prayer of Prophet Yunus AS and removed it from the belly of the nun fish, then the person who fasts on that day is the same as worshiping and fasting one year without sin.

Date 3 Dzulhijjah

Allah SWT granted the prayer of Prophet Zakariya AS, then the person who fasts on that day will have his prayer granted.

Date 4 Dzulhijjah

Prophet Jesus US was born, then the person on that day will be removed from the trouble and gathered with the noble on the Day of Resurrection.

Date 6 Dzulhijjah

Allah SWT opens the door to the goodness of all the Prophets, then the person who fasts on that day will be seen by Allah with full mercy and love.

Date 7 Dzulhijjah

The gates of hell are locked and will not open until it ends on 10 Dzulhijjah, then those who fast on that day are abstained from 30 the door of poverty and hardship and opened 30 convenience door

At the date of 8 Dzulhijjah, Muslims are encouraged to fast Tarwiyah.

And one day before Eid al-Adha, exactly on the date 9 Dzulhijjah, Muslims are encouraged to worship the Fast of Arafah.

This fast is recommended for Muslims who do not perform the pilgrimage.

While those who are on pilgrimage, it is illegal to perform sunnah fasting.

Because on that date, Muslims who perform Hajj are performing the pillars of Hajj, namely wukuf in Padang Arafah.
