Learn Hijaiyah Letters – The letter hijaiyah is the letter contained in the iqro and Al_Qur’an. The scholars of tajwid differ on the number of letters. Some say 28, 29 and 30. But here it is more inclined that the hijaiyah letters are numbered 29.

Here below are some ways to read hijaiyah letters that are good and correct based on tajwid scholars.
To learn this letter, it is good to know the mahraj of letters, because if it is wrong in mahraj it can be different from the meaning and meaning that is said.
Mahraj Huruf
makharij ( مَخَارِجْ ) has the root word of fi'il madhi ( خَرجَ ) which means out. The root of the word is then used as a form of noun (which shows the place ) so as to be ( مَخْرَجْ) which means “ place to exit” while makharij is the plural form of makhraj.
Then, What is meant by makharijul letters are places where letters come out of the reader's letters. All letters have an original place issued by the reader, so as to form a certain sound. If the letter is not removed from its original place, thus creating ambiguity for the reader himself and the listener , and cannot be distinguished from one letter to another .
Purpose of Knowing Makharijul Letters
A person cannot distinguish certain letters without understanding or pronouncing the letters in their original place. Therefore, It is very important to learn makharijul letters so that readers avoid the following things: :
Mistakes in pronouncing letters that result in changes in meaning. For example saying ( هَانَ ) which means easy, pronounced with ( حَانَ ) which means, the time has come.
Ambiguity of letter sound forms, so that one letter cannot be distinguished from another. For example the letter alif ( أ ) with ‘ain ( ع ), ha’ ( ﻫ ) with ha’ ( ح ), cuff ( ك ) with qaf ( ق ) etc .
How to know the letters Makharijul
As described in musammayatul huruf, that the method of pronouncing as well as knowing the places of origin of the letters can be reached through 3 way. That is :
Was given hamzah washal beforehand, then the letter you are looking for where it comes out is ditasydid. Example :
Alphabet ث be read اَثْ
Alphabet ذ be read اَذْ

After the letter you are looking for, the place of origin comes out, to be given ha’ ( ﻪ ) example :

Makharijul places letters
Sheikh Abu khair Syamsuddin Al-Jazary in his book Al-Jazariyah states that the place where the letters come out is 17 the place. The seventeen places were then simplified by tajwid scholars to become 5 the place, that is :
Al-Jauf ( اَلْجَوْفُ ) which is the place where letters come out of the throat and mouth holes. The letters : ا , و , ي
Al-Halq ( أَلْحَلْقُ ) which is where the letters come out of the throat. The letters : ء , ﻫ , ح , خ , ع , غ
Al-Lisan ( اَلْلِسَانُ ) which is the place where the letters come out of the tongue. The letters : ت, ظ , ث , ذ , س , ز , ص , ق , ك , ش , ج , ي , ض , ن , ل, ر, د, ط
As-Syafatain ( الَشَّفَتَيْنِ ) which is the place where the letters come out of the two lips. The letters : م , و , ب , ف
Al- Khaisyum ( اَلْخَيْشُومِ ) which is where the letters come out from the base of the nose . the letters : ْحُرُوف غُنَّة
For more details we can take the opinion of Al- Jazzy above, that the place where the letter came out is 17 of sorts, that is :
1. The hole between the mouth and throat is also where the letter Mad . comes out (long). The letters : ا , ي , و

2. The lower throat that is close to the chest is where the letter comes out : ﻫ , ء

3. The middle throat is where the letters come out : ع , ح

2 اَلصَّالِحُونَ مَعْرُوْفٌ
3 فَارِحُوْنَ اَلْعَيْنُ
4. The upper throat is where the letters come out : غ , خ

1 خَيْرًا غَضِبَ
2 خَاسِرِيْنَ اَلْمَغْضُوبِ
3 اُخْتُهُ اَلْغَيْبُ
5. The base of the tongue is near the tongue with a straight palate above it, is where the letters come out : ق
Example :

1 اَلْوَاقِعَ
2 اَلْقِيَامَةُ
3 اَلْقَارِءَةْ
4 قَنَعَ
6. The base of the tongue with a straight palate over it, and somewhat out of the makhraj qaf, is where the letters come out :ك

4 مَلَائِكَةٌ
7. Middle tongue with a straight palate above, is where the letters come out: ج , ش , ي

2 يَوْمَئِذٍ شِرْكٌ رِجَالٌ
3 يَوْمًا شَىءٌ جَدٍّ
8. One edge of the tongue with the upper salt, is where the letters come out: ض

1 ضَرَبْنَا
2 ضَالٌّ
3 غَضِبَ
4 ضَحِكَ
Muhammad Bashori Alwi said:, that using the left edge of the tongue is easy, while the edge of the right tongue is rather difficult and the edge of the left right tongue the most difficult.
9. The anterior tongue after the makhraj Dhad of the upper gums, is where the letters come out: ل

1 لَحْضَةٌ
2 صَالِحُونَ
3 لَمِحَ
4 يَلْهَثْ
10. The tip of the tongue with the upper gum is slightly out of the makhraj lam , is where the letters come out : ن Izhhar.
The meaning of Nun izhhar is Nun who is not idgham and ikfa ', kerna nun idgham nun ikfa’ that includes khoisyumi.

11. The tip of the tongue is a little in the place where the letters come out : ر
Out’ deeper than the Nun, while Ra’ and Nun is more out than Lam.

2 جَبَّارِيْنَ
3 خَيْرٌ
4 رَحْمَةً
12. The tip of the tongue with the base of the two upper teeth, is where the letters come out : ط , د , ت
Example:

1 طَمَعَ اَلْحَمْدُ تَقْوٰى
2 طَاعَةٌ دَاوَةٍ اَلْمُتَّقِيْنَ
3 ثَمَطَ دَرَجَةً كَتَبَ
13. The tip of the tongue with the cavity between the upper and lower teeth which is closer to the lower teeth, is where the letters come out : ص , س , ز
Example:

1 زِيَارَةٌ يُوَسْوِسُ صَادِقِيْنَ
2 رَزَقَ سَوَاءٌ صَانِعٌ
3 وَزْنٌ سَخْطٌ صَبْرٌ
14. The center of the lower lip with the tips of the two upper teeth, is where the letters come out: ف
Example :
No Letter Fa’
1 فَارِحِيْنَ
2 مُتَفَرِّجِيْنَ
3 فِرْقَةٌ
4 فُضْلَةٌ
15. The tip of the tongue with the tip of the two upper teeth, is where the letters come out: ث , ذ , ظ

No Letter Tsa’ Huruf Dzal Huruf Zha’
1 ثَقِيْلٌ ذَنْبًا حَفِظَ
2 ثَمَنٌ اَلَّذِيْنَ نَظَرَ
3 مِثْلٌ ذَهَبَ ظَلُوْمًا
16. Both upper and lower lips together, is where the letters come out : ب , م , و

No Letter Wawu Letter Mim Letter Ba’
1 وَعَدَ دَوَمَ بَرَكَ
2 وَرَدَ مُكْرَمٌ ثَبَتَ
3 وَرَقَةٌ مَسَكَ كَذِبَ
For meme and ba', both lips have to be tight while for wawu it's a bit stretched.
17. The base of the nose is the place where ghunnah comes out ( buzz )
a. Nun or meme that is tasydid
