Rasulullah saw, said to Ibn Abbas :

وَإِذَا اسْتَعَنْتَ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ

That means : "When you ask for help, then ask Allah” (HR. Tirmidzi no. 2516)

The following is a prayer asking for Allah's help from the Al-Quran which was conveyed to us by Rasulullah Saw :

Prayer asks for help against the infidels

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

(Robbanaghfir lanaa dzunubanaa wa isroofanaa fii amrinaa wa tsabbit aqdaamanaa wanshurnaa ‘alal-qoumil-kaafiriin)

That means : & ldquo; O our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excessive actions (in) our affairs and set our stand, and help us against the disbelieving people” (Q.S Ali Imran : 147)

Or :

رَبِّ انصُرْنِي عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

(Robbinshurnii ‘alal-qoumil-mufsidiin)

That means : & ldquo; O my Lord, help me (by inflicting punishment) over those who did the damage” (Q.S Al-‘Ankabut : 30)

Prayer asks for help in times of adversity and distress

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ

(yaa hayyu yaa koyyu-mu birohmatika astaghiitsu)

That means : “O Almighty (Eternal Life), who constantly takes care of (creature), only by your grace, I asked for help.”
