Prayers Enter the Grave
In addition to visiting graves, it is recommended in Islam. Apart from making us remember about the end of life and that life on earth is not eternal, Visiting graves can also be a means for us to remember our relatives or friends who have gone before us.

Grave Prayer. Rasulullah SAW taught us that when entering a grave or going on a pilgrimage we should pray. The following is a prayer for entering a grave that should be read when you enter a cemetery or burial area.

When entering the cemetery area, we are required to take off our sandals or props on our feet. We should also read the prayer at the grave as a form of respect and prayer for the occupants of the grave. The prayer for entering the grave as taught by the Messenger of Allah has the following pronunciation:

السَّلامُ على أهْلِ الدّيارِ مِنَ المُؤْمنينَ وَالمُسْلمينَ وَيَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ المُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَمِنَّا وَالمُسْتأخِرِين وَإنَّا إنْ شاءَ اللَّه بِكُمْ لاحِقُونَ
Assalâmu 'alâ ahlid diyâr minal mu'minîna wal muslimîn yarhamukumu Lâhul-mustaqdimin minkum wa minnâ wal musta'khirîn, wa wa innâ-Allahu bikum lâhiqûn
That means :
Assalamu'alaikum, Hey believers and Muslims who are in the grave. May God bless those who have preceded and those who will follow you and those who have preceded and will follow) we. Indeed, God willing, we will follow you.”

“Anyone who enters the cemetery area, then he said hello at the grave, then Allah SWT will give him a good reward (50) year, and forgive all his sins and the sins of both parents.

Reading while on pilgrimage.

1. Surat Al-Qadar.
2. Surah Al-Fatihah.
3. Surah Al-Falaq.
4. Surat An-Nas.
5. Surat Al-Ikhlash.
6. Ayat Kursi.

In a hadith it is mentioned: "Whoever reads Surah Al-Qadar as much as (7 time) in the grave of a believer, Allah sent an angel to him to worship near his grave, and recorded for the deceased the reward of the worship performed by the angel until God admitted him to heaven. And in reading the letter Al-Qadar accompanied by the letter Al-Falaq, More, Al-Ikhlash and Ayat kursi, respectively (3 time).”

One way to soften the heart and remind ourselves is by visiting the graves or praying for people who have died.. By making a pilgrimage we will remember the essence of our life in this world all this time. There are many benefits we can get from pilgrimage.

To be rewarded, So the pilgrimage must be in accordance with the guidance of this noble Shari'ah. The following are the manners of visiting a grave according to Sharia:

Pilgrimage Etiquette.

1. You should remember the main purpose of the pilgrimage.
Always remember the wisdom of visiting the grave, namely to learn lessons and remind us of death.
2. Can't go on a pilgrimage.
3. Say hello when you enter the cemetery complex.
4. Do not wear sandals when entering the cemetery.
5. Not sitting on graves and stepping on them.
6. Pray for the deceased if he is a Muslim.
7. Can raise hands when praying for the dead.
8.  Not saying al hujr.
9. It is allowed to cry but not to mourn the dead.
Crying over a dead body is allowed as the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, cried when he visited his mother's grave, making people around him cry too.. But if it reaches the level of mourning for the dead, crying hysterically, slap on the cheek, ripped off the collar, then this is forbidden.
Therefore, The ritual of visiting the grave actually makes us always remember that human life is limited and returning to the grave will never bring wealth or what we have in this world.. Everything will return as it was born without bringing anything. The body decomposes and the soul will be held accountable in the afterlife. All worship practices can no longer be carried out, because time on earth is running out.
