Rain Prayer is a prayer that is recited when it rains. This prayer is a manifestation of our gratitude for the gift of Allah SWT and also a request to Allah to provide rain that is beneficial for us.. Ummul Mu’minin or Aisyah Radhiyallahu ‘anha said that the Prophet once said :

اِنَّ النَّبِيَّ – صلى الله عليه و سلم – كَانَ اِدَا رَاَى الْمَطَرَ قالَ : اَللهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَفِعًا

(Innannabiyyi saw : kanna idaa rha'almadharha kaala : Allahumma Ayyiban nafi'an)

That means : “The Prophet saw when he saw the rain falling, he uttered : Allahumma sayyiban nafi’an or O Allah send us a beneficial rain.” (HR. Bukhari : 1032)

Prayers when it rains

The following is a recommended prayer reading which is read according to the hadith of the Prophet's companions when it rains, namely: :

اَللهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَفِعًا

Or

هَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ صَيِّبًا نَفِعًا

(Allahumma shayyiban nafi'an)

Or

(Allahummaj'alhu shayyiban nafi'an)
