Love of Homeland According to the Qur'an and Hadith (Hubbul Waton Minal Iman)
this time will share about the prayer of love for the homeland that was climbed by the prophet Ibrahim and immortalized in the Qur'an.
The term nationalism that has been absorbed into the Indonesian language has two meanings: understand (teachings) to love one's own nation and state as well as awareness of membership in a nation that potentially or actually together achieve, maintain, and devote identity, integrity, prosperity as well as the strength of the nation. Nationalism in a narrow sense can be interpreted as love for the homeland.
Talking about national security, let's learn from Prophet Ibrahim. Prophet Ibrahim taught us to love our own country. By creating security in the country, it will bring peace to all its inhabitants.
The Prayer of the Prophet Ibrahim
One of the prayers of Prophet Ibrahim on this matter is immortalized in the Qur’an in Surat al-Baqarah verse 126
That means:
"Oh my god, make this country a safe and secure country, and provide from the fruits of its people who believe among them in Allah and the Last Day.”
In its history, Prophet Ibrahim has moved several times. Starting from Babylon moving to Syria, move back to Palestine. Then, Prophet Ibrahim moved to Makkah. Over there, Prophet Ibrahim felt happiness and also got various blessings that were not found in other places. No wonder, if Prophet Ibrahim really loved Makkah.
The feeling of love was proved by the Prophet Ibrahim by always praying for Makkah. He begged for his state to be a peaceful state, its inhabitants live prosperously, and filled with believers. So, Makkah is often referred to as a forbidden land or territory. That is an area that is glorified by Allah and forbidden by all kinds of damage.
The wisdom of the story above, encourage us to love the country of birth with all our soul and body. The love of the homeland was nurtured from an early age. So that each generation feels love for their own homeland. Praying for the homeland is also a form of love for the homeland. Prayer is easy to do but brings blessings to many people.
Proof of Homeland Love (Al-Qur'an)
In addition to the evidence from the prayer of the Prophet Ibrahim which is immortalized in the Qur'an above. one of the verses of the Qur’an that is the proof of love for the homeland according to the commentators is Surat Al-Qashash verse 85:
That means: "Indeed, Allah who obligates you to carry out the laws of the Qur'an will surely return you to a place of return.”
(QS. Al Qashash: 85)
The commentators interpret the word "معاد” divided into several opinions. Some interpret the word "معاد” with Makkahada also which means the hereafter, Dead, and doomsday. But according to Imam Fakhr Al-Din Al-Razi in his tafsir Mafatih Al-Ghaib, said that the opinion that is closer is the opinion that interprets Mecca.
Syekh Ismail Haqqi Al-Hanafi Al-Khalwathi (died 1127 H) in his commentary Ruhul Bayan said:
That means: "In the interpretation of the verse (QS. Al-Qashash:85) there is an indication or sign that "love for the homeland is part of faith". Rasululloh SAW (on the way to his migration to Medina) say a lot of words; "homeland, homeland", then Allah SWT realizes his request (by returning to Makkah)….. The companion of Umar RA said; "If it weren't for the love of the homeland, it will surely ruin a bad country (arid), then because of the love of the homeland, lands are built.". (Ismail Haqqi al-Hanafi, Ruhul Bayan, Beirut, Dar Al-Fikr, Done 6, Thing. 441-442)
Then, the verse that is the proof of love for the homeland according to scholars, namely the Qur'an surat An-Nisa’ verse 66.
Proof of Homeland Love from Hadith
Here is a hadith that is a proof of love for the homeland according to the explanation of the scholars of hadith, clearly peeled off
That means:
"Narrated from Anas's friend; that the Prophet Muhammad SAW when he returned from traveling, and looking at the walls of the medina then he accelerated the speed of his camel. When he rides a camel then he moves it (to accelerate) because of his love for Medina. (HR. Bukhari, Ibn Hibban, and Tirmidhi).
Al-Hafizh Ibn Hajar al-Asqalany (died 852 H) in his book Fathul Bari Syarh Shahih Bukhari (Beirut, Dar Al-Ma’rifah, 1379 H, Done 3, Thing. 621), emphasizes that in the hadith there is evidence (instruction): first, proposition on the superiority of the city of Medina; second, the proposition is that he loves his homeland and misses her.
Badr Al-Din Al-Aini (died 855 H) in his book ‘Umdatul Qari Syarh Shahih Bukhari states that :
That means;
"In it (hadith) there is a proposition (instruction) on the priority of Medina, and (instruction) for disyari'atkannya love of homeland and longing for him.” (Badr Al-Din Al-Aini, Umdatul Qari Syarh Shahih Bukhari, Beirut, Dar Ihya’i Al-Turats Al-Arabi, Done 10, Thing. 135)
