Binafsiya Afdi

Shalawat is the plural form of the word salla or salat which means: prayer, blessedness, glory, well-being, and worship.

Sholawat according to language can be interpreted as Do'a

Shalawat according to syar'i or term that is Praise to the Prophet SAW

The following is the text in Arabic and Indonesian along with the meaning of

Arab and Latin Binafsiya Afdi (I redeemed my soul)

بنفسي أفدي خير من وطئ الثری نبي الهدی بحر الندی سيد الوری

Binafsiya afdî khoiro man wathi-ats-tsarô nabiyyal hudâ bahron-nadâ sayyidal warô

I consecrate my soul for the best man to step on the ground. The prophet is the bearer of guidance, an ocean of generosity, the leader of the beings.

ختام النبيين الکرام جميعهم حبيب إله العالمين بلا مرا

Khitâman-nabiyyînal kirômi jamî’ihim habîba ilâhil ‘âlamîna bilâ mirô

Closing of all the noble prophets. Beloved of the God of the universe who is not arrogant.

أمين ومأمون علی وحي ربه وتنزيله القرآن عصمة من قرا

Amînun wa ma,mûnun ‘alâ wahyi robbihi wa tanzîlihil Qur-âna‘ ishmata man qorô

A prophet who is trusted as a recipient of God's revelations. To him was revealed the Qur'an as a guardian for its readers.

أتاه أمين الله جبريل جهرة وگان لرب العرش يعبد فی حرا

Atâhu amînullâhi jibrîlu jahrotan wa kana lirobbil ‘arsyi ya’budu fî hirô

He had come to Gabriel believing in God in a real way, while he was worshiping his Lord in the cave of Hira’

و أسری به الرب العظيم إلی العلا فسبحان من أسری وبورك من سری

Wa asrô bihir-robbul ‘adhîmu ilâl‘ ulâ fa subhâna man asrô wa brika man sarô

He is carried by the Almighty God to the highest place. Glory to God who runs, and blessed are those who run.

إمام له التقديم فى کل حضرة معظمة مرفوعة القدر والذری

Imâmun lahut-taqdîmu fi kulli hadl-rotin mu’adhdhomatin marfû’atil qodri wadz-dzurô

He is the foremost priest in every great meeting. The highest rank and the highest position.

خليل صفي الله مختار قربه ورؤيته هذا الحديث گما جری

Kholîlun shofiyyullahi mukhtâru qurbihi wa ru,yatihi hâdzâl hadîtsu kamâ jarô

Beloved and chosen by Allah to be close to Him. And see all events as they are.

حبيبي رسول الله إنی نزيلکم علی بابکم أرجو الضيافة والقری

Habîbî Rosûlall innhi innî nazîlukum ‘alâ bâbikum arjûdl-diâfata wal qirô

O my beloved Messenger of Allah, actually I come to your place, at your door, expect a welcome and a meal from you.

حبيب رسول الله إني عبيدکم فقير ضعيف لا أطيق تصبرا

Habîbî Rosûlall innhi innî ‘ubaidukum faqîrun dlo’îfun lâ uthîqu tashobburô

O my beloved Messenger of Allah, Indeed I am your little servant who is poor and weak, coming unable to endure patience.

حبيبي رسول الله إني سليلکم ولي رحم يدري بها کل من دری

Habîbî Rosûlallâhi innî salîlukum wa lî rohimun yadrî bihâ kullu man darô

حبيبي رسول الله إني قصدتکم لگشف مهم في مرابعنا طرا

Habîbî Rosûlallâhi innî qoshodtukum li kasyfi importantly in marôbi’inâ thorô

O my beloved Messenger of Allah, surely I come to you, report problems that always arise in our place.

حبيبي رسول الله قادته فرقة مضللة ليست لنور الهدی تری

Habîbî Rosûlallâhi qôdathu firqotan mudlollalatun laisat linûril hudâ tarô

O my beloved Messenger of Allah, indeed we have been led astray, who no longer heed the light of your guidance.

حبيبی رسول الله کن شافعا لنا إلی ربك الرحمن أحسن من بری

Habîbî Rosûlallâhi kun syâfi’ân lanâ ilâ robbikar-rohmâni ahsana man barô

O my beloved Messenger of Allah, intercede for us. Convey to God ar-Rohman as good as the creator.

فسله لنا وادعه لنا أن يغيثنا ويرحمنا إن المعاش تگدرا

Fasalhu lanâ wad’uhu lanâ an yughîtsanâ wa yarhamanâ innal ma’âsya takaddarô

Ask Him to help us, and love us, indeed this life is very dirty.

بجذب وقحط قد تمادی وفتنة وجور ولاة الصق الکل بالعرا

Bijadzbin wa qohthin qod tamâdâ wa fitnatin wa jauri wulâtin alshoqol kulla bil ‘arô

Drought, prolonged hunger and various slander, malfeasance of leaders , hit everywhere.

فسله تعالی يبدل الجدب والغلا بخصب ورخص فی المدائن والقری

Fasalhu ta’âlâ yubdilul jadba wal gholâ bikhishbin wa rukhshin fîl madâ-ini wal qurô

So ask Him to compensate for the drought and the high price, with fertility and low prices..

ويصلح ولاة الأمر عند فسادهم ويوقظهم للعدل من سنة الگری

Wa yushlih wulâtal amri ‘inda fasâdihim wa yûqidhuhum lil‘ ad-li min sinatil karô

And in order to repair the country's leaders who have done the damage. Wake them from sleep to uphold justice.

فيا رب يارحمن شفع نبينا رسولك فينا واکف من جار واجترا

Fayâ robbu yâ rohmânu syaffi’ Nabiyyanâ rosûlaka fînâ wakfi man jâro wajtarô

O Most Merciful Robbi, accept the intercession of our Prophet. He is your messenger for us, and put an end to all who cheat and who argue.

ولا تبقنا ياربنا عرضة لهم وهدف مرامي کل من خان وامتری

Wa lâ tubqinâ yâ robbanâ ‘urdlotan lahum wa hadfa marômî kulla man khôna wamtarô

O God, do not let us be the target for them and the target of hope of every traitor and dissenter.

وخذبنواصينا إلی الحق والهدی واختم لنا بالخير إن أزمع السری

Wa khudz binawâshînâ ilâl haqqi wal hudâ wakhtim lanâ bil khoiri in azma’as-surô

Hold on to our foreheads towards Your truth and guidance. And end our ages well when death comes.

فإنك مولانا وإنك ربنا وسيدنا والقصد فی کل ماعرا

Fa innaka maulânâ wa innaka Robbunâ wa sayyidunâ wal qoshdu fî kulli mâ ‘arô

Lo! Thou art our Lord and our Protector, Our supervisor, also our goal in dealing with all problems.

وصل علی الروح الحبيب محمد وسلم وبارك کلما بارق شری

Wa sholli 'alâr-rûhil habîbi Muhammadin wa sallim wa bârik kullamâ bâriqun syarô

Pour out prayers on him the heart of the heart, My beloved Muhammad saw. Give him safety and bless him as long as the lightning bolts are still glowing.

مع الآل والأصحاب والتابعين ما جری السيل فی واد وما المزن أمطر

Ma’al ãli wal ash-hâbi wat-tâbi’îna mâ jarôs-sail fî wâdin wa mâl muznu amthorô

Along with family, for sohabat, and his followers. As long as the water flows the river, and as long as the clouds rained down on the earth.

وتمت وفاح الحمد لله ختمها عبيرا ومسکا للوجود معطرا

Wa tammat wafâhal hamdu lillâhi khotmuhâ 'abîrôn wa miskân lil wujûdi mu’aththorô

And in closing, accompanied by the words of Alhamdulillah, like the fragrant mystical oil of the universe
